Gastrointestinal Health

Healthy digestion is very important, but often taken for granted until something goes wrong. Whether it's heartburn, stomach ache or discomfort, diarrhea, gas, bloating, constipation, nausea or vomiting, one's gastrointestinal health can affect proper digestion and assimilation of nutrients.
The most up to date evidence has confirmed GI abnormalities may be associated with many conditions outside the GI tract such as: Arthritis, Autoimmune Disease, Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia, Antibiotic overuse, Skin Problems, Osteoporosis, Diabetes, etc.
The GI tract is a complex organ system easily influenced by factors such as microflora and microbial balance , digestive enzymes, or GI lining integrity. Microflora, or “friendly” bacteria in the GI tract, play an important role in digestion, microbial balance, and immune function. Digestive enzymes function to split proteins, carbohydrates, and fats, making them critical to adequate digestion of foods for proper nutrient absorption.
The GI mucosal lining, when healthy, provides a protective barrier to inhibit the flow of ingested matter to other parts of the body. Addressing the appropriate underlying GI issues not only helps relieve digestive discomforts, it also supports many other aspects of long-term health.
We offer a Comprehensive digestive stool analysis that provides an in depth look at one's overall gastrointestinal health. This analysis evaluates digestion and absorption markers, gut metabolic markers, and gut microbiology markers. This test offers insight into any of the following consequences:
  • Maldigestion
  • Malabsorption
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
  • Altered GI Immune function
  • Bacterial/fungal overgrowth
  • Chronic dysbiosis
Dr. Ted will determine if you will benefit from this type of test through initial blood tests, review of medical and nutritional history and listening to your issues of concern. If you suffer from above mentioned GI abnormalities, please don't hesitate to give our office a call or click Contact Us and fill out our form and one of our friendly staff members will contact you soon.
