Hi Orpha, many apologies for the late response, we are currently updating our website. Based on the information you provided, there are numerous possible causes for your symptoms. If you would complete one of our comprehensive questionnaires, then that would give me more of an opportunity to come to a possible diagnosis in your case. I have diagnosed and treated similar hormonal imbalances in the past and would definitely be able find a solution to your question. Please feel free to call my office or click on the link CONTACT US above and one of my staff can contact you personally. Thank you for your question and I do hope to help you soon.
Libido

Hi Dr. Ted, I am a 67 year old man with low energy and libido. I follow a strict diet and work out with a trainer 5 days a week. I haven't changed this regimen for over ten years. I have recently, last year or so, noticed gaining a little excess fat around my stomach area as well as the loss of energy. I had my hormones checked by my PC physician and it showed that my testosterone was low at 288, but all my other levels were within their ranges. I do take supplements to help boost energy but haven't found them to be of any help in the long run. Would you think I would need to take Testosterone? Would that help me with my libido or do I have to start taking the little blue pill? I would rather not take a pill for that and rather fix it by addressing the cause. Thanks for your help in advance.

Yes, you may well need extra testosterone. But a balanced approach to your health should also look at any other comorbidities such as insulin resistance and estrogen dominance which can impact libido. Once a metabolic, bio-chemical and hormonal balance is obtained then you can return to your optimal potential, without the use of ersatz non-bioidentical aids.
Treatment options

Dr. Ted, 44 year old healthy woman here. I eat mostly organic foods and try and exercise as much as possible throughout the week. The problem is that I lack the energy to do so. I suffer from irritability throughout the day and nightly leg cramps causing insomnia. I started to experience these symptoms since last year. I recently was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism by my family doctor and was given the following treatment options: removing my thyroid through surgery or taking oral radioactive iodine. I don't like any of these options due to the long term issues. Is there anything else I can do to help my situation that doesn't require surgery or taking medications that could harm me??
