It is useful to have baseline lab tests after evaluating and prior to treating patients. A traditional medical lab evaluation is required to rule out disease and to assess hematologic, metabolic, and hormonal levels for deficiency or excess.
Since this is a clinical specialty, lab tests should be used to confirm diagnosis, not to make the diagnosis. A systems bio-identical approach, where we can try to achieve a specific numerical value in a tightly controlled range, is not part of our clinical model of hematologic, metabolic or hormonal optimization. The usual Reference Laboratory range values are based on U.S. population statistics, but the optimal range is individualized for each patient based on our physicians' clinical and educational experience.
If needed, further detailed testing can be done on an individual basis after baseline patient evaluation.
